I know you’re asking yourself, “Is it that big of deal?”
For many of us, prisons and those who have committed a crime, are out of sight, out of mind. We don’t really want to know what is happening.
While one can ignore the problem for a while, the reality is that one out of a hundred Americans will go to prison and it costs us, the tax payers, approximately $41 billion to fund the Correctional System each year.

Between 1993 and 2003, the women’s prison population grew by 233.3%-over twice the growth of men in prison.
In order to fix the problem of overcrowding and overspending, we must reverse engineer the problem. Take2 knows that many are working to change the prison system from the inside, but we realize that women need assistance upon release into the free world because they want to change. But wanting to change doesn’t mean they know how to do so.

It seems impossible to think a woman can get out of prison and get a job, keep a job, get her kids back, and raise them outside of the poverty cycle, while paying her rent and taxes with the raise she earned for her hard work. But these things can happen, it just takes a lot of work.
Take2 is founded on the belief that success after prison is not only possible, but it is a crucial part of changing our city.
Because of this belief, Take2 will operate in three different Phases (Acts) designed to empower women to go from Prison to Potential, regardless of their past, their present circumstances or the statistics that predict a hopeless future..
