The Mission of Take2 is to equip women who are released from prison with both the knowledge and the wisdom to enter back into the free world with a renewed purpose & hope.
To achieve this mission, Take2 has identified 3 goals:

Take2 will focus on developing their knowledge and ability of how to take care of themselves, and eventually their families, on a practical level by ensuring they will be taught and given opportunities to learn basic life skills when it comes to dealing with the day in and day out duties of life.

Take2 will also teach basic job skills that will prepare the women to not only find a job but understand the benefits that come from working: living off what you make and the confidence that they will experience when they are valued and bring value to their workplace.

Lastly, Take2 will integrate a Biblical worldview of who they are and their role in society on both a macro and micro level (God’s redemptive plan for all creation and for their own life) in all they do because we believe if they know who they are and why they exist, it will empower them to take a new outlook on their past, present, and future.

It starts on the Inside Application Process:

Every couple of months, Take2 will enter Denver Women’s Correctional Facility (DWCF) to present the program and pass out applications to interested women. When their application is approved and they are given a release date, they will receive a Take2 specific re-entry packet to work through inside until the are released.

Release Day

Take2 will arrange for the women to be picked up from DWCF and will be given a re-entry bag full of necessary items for survival in the free world (toiletry items, some basic pieces of clothing, a gift card for food, a monthly bus pass, etc...). The Take2 volunteer will move them into a partnering transitional Hotel in Denver and review with them their Take2 schedule.

Act I

Act I starts once the woman is picked up at DWCF & taken to their transitional hotel. This phase will last approximately 2 months from their release date. During Act I, each woman will attend classes covering personal finance, relationship development, job and computer training, and Biblical worldview development. They will receive counseling through Denver Biblical Counseling Center (DBCC), start working (temporary or long term), weekly attend a Christian church.

Act II

Similar to Act I, the second Act calls the women to a higher level of expectation. This phase will last from 3 to 4 months based upon each woman’s progress and her readiness to transition out of Take2 and into her future.

Act III

Each women will start Act III with different goals. For some it will involve their children or schooling or moving on to another transition program, but regardless of which path they go down, Take2 will remain a support system for her and her family. In other words, the show is never over.

The typical attitude toward one who has done time is that they should forever live as if they are still in prison, even after release. Take2 will be loyal to the women showing our concern for their future since they paid their debt to society and those who were effected by their choices. Take2 believes they are given the right to live out the rest of their life forgiven and empowered.

Because Take2 is dedicated to making sure their future is one full of potential, We have partnered with the Denver Rescue Mission’s Star Program that will build upon what they learned in Take2 and continue to prepare them for success.
